Ziggy receives a package (2 parts + audio)
I love machines. To me they are the highest of human art. From stick and stones, air and dust, plants and heat we humans make the most incredible magic. Few take the time to look at the world around us with any care. When we do, we look into our own beings, recognising that that most astounding thing in all of spacetime, is the ability to have a novel idea!
The concept for this video springs from an idea I had for a feature film some time ago. It may never get made, but it is the main reason for me making most of the models I do. Everything is done in Blender.

The idea is that Ziggy, who is not actually a real spider but has taken on the form of one to remain "incognito", is exceptionally clever and is easily able to operate a mobile phone. He wrote the fictitious software he uses to operate the robot arm.
Every phalange of each finger and every joint and the way it can move is powered through electric actuators connected by carbon fibre cords connecting to them. They all move as the hand operates.
